Stewart Hits The Weekly Awards Jackpot
Texas State's Jaquae Stewart garnered a slew of awards for his performance this past week.
Texas State’s Jaquae Stewart hit the trifecta in awards this week as he was named Sun Belt Player of the Week, Perfect Game’s National Player of the Week and Baseball America’s Team of the Week.
The redshirt junior batted .421 (8-for-19) with five home runs, 17 RBI and posted a 1.640 OPS in helping the Bobcats to three victories, including one over then No. 18 Texas A&M. In the upset win over the Aggies, he went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI with two coming on the go-ahead single in the seventh inning.
Stewart would drive in a run in the 10-0 victory in seven innings the next day against Stephen F. Austin. He started the series against Troy with a 2-for-4 day at the plate that included hitting a game-tying three-run homer. He wrapped up the series against the Trojans by going 3-for-5 with three home runs and eight RBIs
