Embury Named A-Sun Player of the Year
Mummau Named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year
Florida Gulf Coast catcher Jon Embury has been named the A-Sun Player of the Year and Jacksonviller infielder Sammy Mummau has been selected the conference's Defensive Player of the Year.
The Eagles' Embury was named Player of the Year as he enters the postseason leading the ASUN in several categories including hits per game, RBI, and homeruns. The sophomore recorded 20 runners caught stealing this season which leads the leauge by seven and notched a season batting average of .379 which ranks in the top-10 in FGCU history for a single season.
Jacksonville's Sammy Mummau was named Defensive Player of the Year. Mummau started 51 games for the Dolphins this season and closed the regular season out with 199 chances, 130 assists, and 68 putouts while turning 17 double plays at shortstop.
Embury played in the VBL for the Front Royal Cardinals while Mummau played for the Charlottesville Tom Sox.
