Tom Sox hold off Express...
Waynesboro 5, Purcellville 2
Waynesboro snapped a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the third inning and went on to defeat the Cannons, 5-2.
Nick April-Gath (Florida Southwestern) was 3-for-5 while Brian Archer (George Washington) and Ben Geary (Florence Darlington) each finished 2-for-4 for the Generals.
Generals’ starter Trey Graydon (Gardner-Webb) got the win, pitching five innings and allowed two runs on five hits.
For the Cannons, Jatneil McCloud (Amarillo CC) and Matthew Perez (Florida A&M) each had two hits.
Charlottesville 11, Strasburg 9
The Tom Sox turned back a late Strasburg rally to hold on for an 11-9 win over the Express.
Benjamim Cardone (VMI) had a double, homer and four RBIs for the Tom Sox. Harrison Campi (Wofford) and Grayson McCollum (Kennesaw State) each added two hits. Caiden Combs (Auburn) and Campi each drove in two runs.
For the Express, Brian Trujillo (Eastern Kentucky) was 4-for-5 and Caden Haywood (Western Carolina) was 3-for-6 with two RBIs. Ben Green (UNC-Asheville), Marshall McGowan (Western Carolina) and Fuller Morrish (Georgia State) each added two base hits and Green finished with two RBIs.
Covington 11, Harrisonburg 7
The Lumberjacks took the lead with four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Turks.
Luis Acosta (Arizona Western) was 3-for-4 and Darrius Brown (Maryland-Eastern Shore) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs to lead the Jacks’ offense. Dariel Castillo (U. of Cumberland) and Thomas Fratto (Eckerd) each had two base hits and Zach Doorlag (Francis Marion) added two RBIs.
For the Turks, Elijah Guilliams (Flagler) and Andrew Fonte (San Jacinto) each drove in a pair of runs.
