Staunton 6, Waynesboro 5
Staunton edged Waynesboro 6-5 in a matchup between the two teams with the best records in the VBL.
Brody Melton (Milligan) and Julian Braga (Florida Southwestern) both homered for the Braves.
Kaleb Smith (Liberty) pitched the ninth and struck out two batters to get the save.
For the Generals, Jake Mueller (UNC-Greensboro) was 3-for-4 while Christian Knight (Wagner) and Connor O’Sullivan (Rollins) each added two base hits.
Winchester 1, Culpeper 0
Ryan Bates (Binghamton) pitched a seven-inning complete game to lead the Royals to a 1-0 win. Bates allowed just two hits, struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.
Troy Davis (East Stroudsburg) homered for the game’s only run.
Woodstock 13, Purcellville 6
Woodstock took the lead with two runs in the fourth and pulled away for the win.
Kamari Chisholm Jr. (Hood), Jeovanni Hernandez (Florida Gulf Coast) and Lucas Badalato (Gulf Coast State) each had three hits with Hernandez and Badalato each driving in three runs. KJ Moon (Augusta) and Bryant Green (Fairmont State) each added two base hits.
For the Cannons, Logan Newcomb (Coastal Carolina), Erick Martinez (North Central Texas) and Murchael Turner (Long Beach State) each had two hits with Martinez driving in two runs.
Harrisonburg 9, Front Royal 2
A five-run second inning propelled the Turks to a 9-2 win.
Phillip Carcia (Gulf Coast State) had two hits and Garrett Harper (West Florida) drove in two runs for the Turks.
Turks’ starter Jackson Lucas (Troy) pitched four innings, allowing one run on two hits. He struck out six and walked two.
New Market 10 Strasburg 7
Four runs in the seventh helped the Rebels secure a 10-7 win over Strasburg.
Jayden Harriel (Florida Atlantic) and Joe Terranova (SE Missouri State) each drove in two runs in the Rebels’ win.
Rebels’ starter Jansen Kenty (Georgia Southern) pitched five innings and allowed three runs, all unearned on two hits. He struck out four and walked three.
Caden Haywood (Western Carolina) and Madden Williams (Samford) each had two hits for the Express.
Charlottesville 6, Covington 5
A three-run double by Tommy Landsnes (Ball State) highlighted a four-run outburst in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score and Charlottesville won the game in the 10th on a walk-off single by Bryce Neely (Virginia). Neely finished 2-for-4.
Brandon Dahlman (Liberty) picked up the win, pitching the final three innings. Dahlman did not allow a baserunner and struck out five.
Zach Doorlag (Francis Marion) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Lumberjacks.
