Brown Named NACSB National Hitter of the Week

Strasburg's Sam Brown (Gulf Coast State) has been named the NACSB National Player of the Week.

Brown was 7-for-14 in four games with four homers and 11 RBIs. He was 3-for-3 with two homers, both in the same inning, and six RBIs against Woodstock, and had another two-homer game and drove in four runs against Purcellville.

Entering the final month of the season, Brown is ranked among the VBL leaders in several statistical categories. Entering play on July 1, the Gulf Coast State product ranks in the top three in the VBL in batting average (.433), runs batted in (24), and home runs (5). He has been the leader for a Strasburg team with a 12-12record, just 2.5 games back in the VBL North.

Brown is the second VBL player to earn the National Player of the Week honor this summer. Earlier this season, Staunton Braves' OF Brody Melton received the honor.
