Cannons limit Rebels to two hits
Purcellville 5, New Market 0
Two Purcellville pitchers combined on a two-hitter in a 5-0 win over the Rebels.
Cannons’ starter Sota Inden (Texas A&M International) pitched five innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out three and walked three. Ethan DeJesus (Florida Gulf Coast) pitched four perfect innings, retiring 12 straight batters, eight by strikeout.
Seth Williams (West Virginia) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Cannons. Thomas Marsala (Northwestern State) drove in two runs and Ethan Acevedo (VCU) added two hits.
Woodstock 13, Harrisonburg 3
Woodstock trailed 2-0 after five innings before scoring 13 runs over the final three innings to defeat the Turks.
Conner Worth (JMU) homered and drove in four runs for the River Bandits. Abdriel Delgado (Jacksonville), Bryont Green (Fairmont State) and Maximus Reaume (Wingate) each drove in two runs. Logan Duffy (Louisiana Monroe) and Lucas Badalato (Gulf Coast State) each had three base hits and Geovanni Hernandez (Florida Gulf Coast) added two hits
Garrett Harper (West Florida), Andy Perez (Florida Southwestern) and Elijah Guilliams (Flagler) each had two hits for the Turks.
Winchester 6, Strasburg 5
The Royals took the lead with two runs in the top of the ninth and held on for the win over the Express.
JP Williams (Shenandoah) and Reece Newbury (Shorter) led off the top of the ninth with back-to-back homers for the Royals. Williams had a pair of solo homers and Newbury finished 2-for-4. Cameron Tellefsen (ODU) also homered for the Royals and Jaime Padilla (Shenandoah) added two hits.
For the Express, Tommy Kirwan (Wofford) and Ben Green (UNC-Asheville) were both 4-for-5, Green and Sam Brown (Gulf Coast State) each homered. Fuller Moorish (Georgia State) was 2-for-2.
Front Royal 3, Charlottesville 1
Front Royal scored two runs in the first and led the rest of the night.
Nicholas Dromboski (Stony Brook) was 3-for-4 and James Green (Presbyterian) was 2-for-2 for the winners.
Front Royal starter Dylan Henshaw (Stony Brook) pitched five innings and did not allow a hit. He struck out eight.
Waynesboro 9, Covington 6
Waynesboro scored three runs in the ninth to defeat the Lumberjacks.
Ben Schechterman (Eastern Michigan) was 2-for-4 for the Generals with three RBIs. Jake Mueller (UNC-Greensboro) and Sam Guth (Coastal Alabama) each added two hits. Christian Knight (Wagner) drover in two runs.
For the Jacks, Darrius Brown (Maryland-Eastern Shore) homered and drove in two runs.
Staunton 9, Culpeper 6
The Braves scored five runs in the first inning and held on for the win. Julian Braga (Florida Southwestern) hit a three-run homer to highlight the first inning. Braga also had two doubles to finish 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
Max Lawson (Longwood) was 4-for-4 while Keegan Haesler (JMU) and Easton Ogle (VMI) each added two hits. Josh Hall (Patrick Henry CC) drove in two runs and Cole Sofge (St. John’s) added a solo homer.
Braves starter Owen Shaprow (Towson) allowed one earned run in five-plus innings. Nick Romer (St. John’s) struck out three and did not allow a hit in 1.1 innings to earn the save.
Nick Matson (Long Island) and Joey Rogers (Wingate) each had two hits for the Cavaliers.
