Charlottesville 3, Culpeper 0
Charlottesville blanked the Culpeper Cavaliers 3-0 on Sunday.
Will Yow (Virginia) was 3-for-5 for the Tom Sox and Grayson McCollum (Kennesaw State) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Garrison Wight (Louisburg), Eric Davis (Roanoke), Anthony Mancini (Saint Peter’s) and Conner Hedgepeth Charleston) combined to shut out the Cavaliers on five hits.
Nick Matson (Long Island) had two hits for the Cavaliers.
Strasburg 18, Covington 8
Strasburg took a 12-2 lead after four innings and coasted to the win over the Lumberjacks.
Baylor Roberts (UAB) was 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs. Tanner Waldrop (Auburn) was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs while Caden Haywood (Western Carolina) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. JW Kohlmeyer (VMI had two hits while Sam Brown (Gulf Coast State) and Madden Williams (Samford) each drove in two runs.
For the Jacks, Darrius Brown (Maryland-Eastern Shore) was 3-for-4. Cross Yarborough (Charleston Southern), George Pardo Jr. Palm Beach State), Peter Crespo (Rider) and Bryant Zayas (Lynn) each finished with two hits for Covington. Zach Doorlag (Francis Marion) added a solo homer.
Harrisonburg 5, Winchester 2
Harrisonburg snapped a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Winchester 5-2. Bennett Gary (Miami) put the Turks ahead with a run-scoring single in the eighth and Elijah Guilliams (Flagler) added a run-scoring double.
Gary finished 2-for-3 and Garrett Harper (West Florida) drove in a pair of runs.
Turks’ starter Jackson Reeves (Northwestern Illinois) pitched six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. He struck out four and walked four. Matt Rader (Millersville) pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the save.
Carl Keenan (Shenandoah) was 4-for-5 for the Royals and Jaime Padilla (Shenandoah) was 3-for-5.
Purcellville 8, Front Royal 6
Purcellville scored two runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Front Royal 8-6.
Erick Martinez (North Central Texas) and Thomas Marsala (Northwestern State) each had two hits for the Cannons. Ethan Acevedo (VCU) drove in three runs.
Nicholas Dromboski (Stony Brook) was 3-for-4 for the Cardinals. Danny Orr (UMBC) and Joseph Montgomery (Villanova) each had two hits and each drove in a pair of runs. James Green (Presbyterian) also had two base hits.
Waynesboro 9 Woodstock 7
The Generals took the lead in the middle innings and held off Woodstock for a 9-7 win.
Jake Mueller (UNC-Greensboro) was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs and Aidan Autovino (Mount St. Mary’s) was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
For the River Bandits, JT Anderosky (DeSales) was 3-for-5 while Abdriel Delgado (Jacksonville) and KJ Moon each drove in two runs.
Staunton 6, New Market 1
Staunton took the lead early and went on to defeat the New Market Rebels 6-1.
Braves starter Jonathan Strohecker (JMU) improved to 3-0 with a strong performance. Strohecker allowed one run on three hits in six innings. He struck out nine and walked five. Nick Gilpin (St. John’s) pitched three shutout innings, allowing just one hit to record the save. Gilpin struck out three.
Cooper Marrs (Denison) was 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBIs. Brody Melton (Milligan) gave the Braves the lead with a solo homer in the first, his sixth homer of the season.
