Braves run winning streak to five straight,
Covington 8, Culpeper 4
The Lumberjacks took the lead early and held off Culpeper 8-4.
Cross Yarborough (Charleston Southern) singled in two runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-1 Jacks lead and they led the rest of the way.
Yarborough also belted a homer to finish 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Chris Carroll (Eastern Florida State), Darrius Brown (Maryland-Eastern Shore and Frankie Clark (West Oklahoma State) each added two hits while Caleb Miele (Georgia State College & U.) finished with two RBIs.
Covington starter Lucas Rodriguez (Palm Beach State) pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out five and walked one.
Greyson Gegg (Mercer) was 3-for-4 and Tyler Benick (Long Island) was 2-for-4 for the Cavaliers.
Waynesboro 19, Covington 10
Waynesboro scored 19 runs on 17 hits to bury the Turks 19-10.
Ben Geary (South Suburban) was 5-for-7 with three runs scored and three RBIs out of the leadoff spot for the Generals. Connor O’Sullivan (Rollins) was 2-for-4, scored five runs and drove in four while Jake Mueller (UNC-Greensboro) finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Christian Knight (Wagner) added three hits and three RBIs while Aidan Autovino (Mount St. Mary’s) had two hits and two runs batted in.
For the Turks, Elijah Guilliams (Flagler) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Andrew Fonte (San Jacinto) finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Brody Dalton (Kent State) went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs batted in while Conner Spelman (Jacksonville) added a pair of hits.
Charlottesville 14, New Market 4
The Tom Sox pulled away late to defeat New Market 14-4.
Five players – Xavier McCoury (Liberty), Grayson McCollum (Kennesaw State), Caiden Combs (Auburn), Aiden Harris (Virginia) Dom Caferillo (Georgetown) – contributed two hits apiece for the Tom Sox. McCoury, McCollum and Bryce Neely (Virginia) each drove in two runs.
Brandon Dahlman (Liberty) pitched the final two innings for the Tom Sox, allowing no runs on one hit. He struck out five and walked two.
Mario Magana Jr. (Miami) was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Rebels. Johnathan Mallow (Potomac State) and Dylan Murphy (Florida Atlantic) added two hits each.
Staunton 8, Front Royal 7
Staunton snapped a 6-6 tie with two runs in the top of the eighth to defeat the Cardinals 8-7. Max Lawson (Longwood) provided the big hit for the Braves with a two -run triple in the eighth.
Jose Vaxquez (Arkansas-Pine Bluff), Brody Melton (Milligan) and Ethan Barnes (Liberty) each had two hits for Staunton.
Braves starter Tyler Ruhl (VMI) pitched four innings, allowing no earned runs on three hits. He struck out seven and walked two.
Dominic Archila (Wichita State) was 3-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Cardinals.
Strasburg 5, Purcellville 3
Five runs in the third proved to be enough in Strasburg’s win over the Cannons.
Caden Haywood (Western Carolina) and Tanner Waldrop (Auburn) each drive in two runs for the Express.
Daniel Jacobs (Lackawanna) provided four strong innings in relief for the Express, giving up one run on two hits. He struck out four and walked one. Noah LaFine (VMI) worked the ninth to get the save.
Josh Ibe (Stephen F. Austin) finished 3-for-4 for the Cannons.
Winchester 10, Woodstock 8
The Royals pounded out 15 hits and held on for a 10-8 win over the River Bandits.
Brody Connors (ODU) led the winners, going 4-for-6 with two RBIs while Bodie Pullen (Richmond) went 3-for-5 and scored three runs. Jamie Padilla (Shenandoah), Zach Fortman (Sewanee) and Christian Dillard (Middle Georgia State) each contributed two base hits.
Tyler Oaks (Western Carolina) got the final four outs in the game to earn the save.
For the Bandits, Connor Worth (JMU) was 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Asher Bates (Dallas College-Mt. View) finished 3-fopr-3. KJ Moon (Augusta) and Abdriel Delgado (Jacksonville) each drove in two runs.
