Light night in the VBL with three games
Purcellville 11, Staunton 1
Purcellville ran its winning streak to seven straight with its 11-1 win at Staunton.
Gregory Quintana (Lafayette) pitched 6.0 innings and allowed one run on six hits, He struck out three and did not walk a batter.
Thomas Marsala (Northwester State) was 2-for-5 with three RBIs for the Cannons. Shintaro Inoue (Kansas State), AJ Greene, Erick Martinez and Grant Gilooly each added two hits.
Brody Melton (Milligan) and Josh Hall (Patrick Henry CC) each had two hits for the Brave.
Charlottesville 5, Harrisonburg 3
Four Tom Sox pitchers limited Harrisonburg to three hits on Thursday.
Brandon Dahlman (Liberty) was stellar in relief, pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball. He struck out five, walked two and did not give up a hit to earn the save. Tommy Landsnes (Ball State) was 3-for-5 and Luke Craddock drove in three runs.
Matt Rader (Millersville) pitched well in long relief for the Turks, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing one run of three hits. He struck out five and walked one.
Winchester 9, Front Royal 8
Winchester scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge the Cardinals.
Bodie Pullen (Richmond) had two hits for the Royals.
Antonio Sansome (Felician) did not allow a hit in three scoreless innings and Tyler Oaks pitched the ninth to pick up the save.
Sang Woon Jeon (New Mexico Military Institute) was 2-for-3 with two doubles to lead the Cardinals and James Green (Presbyterian) was 3-for-5.
