Katz Named SoCon Player of the Week

Mercer's Chris Katz has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week.

In four games, Katz was 7-for-15 with two homers, seven runs scored, three doubles and eight RBIs.

In a midweek win over Georgia Southern, Katz tied the game int he ninth with a grand slam homer. Mercer won the game 10-9.

He also had two big games in a series win over Samford. Katz led Mercer with a 2-for-4 effort in the opening victory, then went 3-for-4 with four runs scored, a double and a home run in Saturday’s series clincher.

Katz played in the VBL with the Harrisonburg Turks.
