About the VBL

The Valley League was founded on May 15, 1897, in Edinburg, Virginia, and included charter members Winchester, Woodstock, Strasburg, Front Royal, and Edinburg.
</p>
<p>
Officially sanctioned by the NCAA since 1961, the Valley League has become a leading pipeline for MLB talent over the past 50 years. Many MLB scouts recognize the Valley League as one of the premier wooden-bat collegiate summer leagues in the nation.

Throughout its history, the VBL has produced hundreds of MLB draft picks and numerous Major League players.

In 2011, the VBL transitioned to not-for-profit status, supported by volunteers and sponsors while maintaining its traditional small-town atmosphere and affordable family entertainment. The league continues to provide high-level collegiate development.
</p>
<p>
Its combination of tradition, competitive play, and strong community support makes it one of the longest-running and most significant summer collegiate leagues in the United States.
</p>
<p>
The VBL is funded in part by a grant from Major League Baseball and is a member of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB), a national affiliation of 13 collegiate summer leagues.
